Regularly scheduled lessons are essential in creating mastery of skill. In order to progress, students should take one lesson a week. Booking a lesson is a quick and easy process. While learning anything new takes time, Ms. Amy guarantee’s that the student will increase in knowledge and performance skill.
What Do You Offer?
Ms. Amy provides professional instruction in piano, guitar and voice. She includes additional instruction on music theory and historical significance and composition of music.
How Long are Lessons?
The length of lessons range depending on skill set and needs. Typically lessons range from 1/2 hour to a full hour. Contact Ms. Amy to figure out how long your weekly lesson needs to be.
How to Pay for Lessons?
All lessons are paid for in advance at the first lesson of the month. This guarantees your time slot for your weekly lesson and ensures the instructor is properly compensated for teaching time. Payments can be made via check or cash. Missed lessons are non-refundable.
Please plan your lessons ahead of time. If you know you will be out of town and will not be able to attend your weekly lesson for part of the month, communicate this to the instructor. This will allow the instructor to plan her schedule accordingly and help you avoid additional charges.
How to Prepare for the First Lesson?
After you have booked your first lesson, the next step is to purchase books and study materials. The specific music books needed will be provided by your instructor. Beginning materials cost around $35. The student will also need regular access to a piano or guitar. Additional materials that may be needed in subsequent lessons include:
- Blank staff paper (see Resources)
- Notebook
- Pen or Pencil
- Music Theory Textbook
Your instructor will introduce a basic plan for your lessons and describe what you will be learning over the course of a month.
How to Proceed After the First Lesson?
Students will be expected to commit at least 1/2 hour of practice every day at home. The more practice, the faster students will progress! In each lesson the instructor will review what was covered in the previous lesson, listen to homework assigned and furnish comments and critique based on the performance given. Instruction for the next lesson will then be offered, allowing the student to master new material and gain musical experience.
Will There Be Tests?
Both oral and written quizzes will be a regular part of the lesson program. A recital will be held once a year to help students learn to play in public, mastering stage performance and etiquette.
How to Cancel Lessons?
If you are unable to make a lesson, cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance. To discontinue further instruction, please give the instructor 30 days’ notice.
How to Reschedule a Lesson?
Life happens and occasionally a student will have to miss a lesson. Please contact Ms. Amy to reschedule your lesson. The instructor will provide two opportunities to make up the lesson within the month. Please contact her one week in advance to schedule your make up lesson.
